Why Double Cleansing?

The most important concept in Korean skincare — and it changes everything.

01

Oil-Based Cleanser First

Dissolves sunscreen, makeup, sebum, and oil-based pollution. Water alone can't remove these — this step is essential.

02

Water-Based Cleanser Second

Now clean the skin itself — sweat, residue, and any remaining impurities. Your skin is now truly clean and ready to absorb treatments.

Phase 1 — Cleanse
1
Step 1 · Oil Cleanse

Cleansing Oil or Balm

Massage onto dry skin for 60 seconds to lift all oil-based impurities — SPF, foundation, sebum, pollution. Emulsify with a few drops of water until it turns milky, then rinse.

Pro Tip: Never skip this even if you don't wear makeup. Sunscreen alone requires oil to be properly removed.

Step 2 · Water Cleanse

Gentle Foaming Cleanser

Follow with a gentle, low-pH water-based cleanser to wash away any remaining impurities. Rinse with lukewarm water and pat dry — do not rub.

Pro Tip: Your skin should feel soft and comfortable after cleansing — never tight. Tightness means your barrier is being damaged.

Phase 2 — Treat

Step 3 · Tone

Hydrating or Exfoliating Toner

Evening toner sets the stage for active ingredients. Use a hydrating toner nightly. 2–3 times per week, swap in a chemical exfoliant toner (AHA/BHA) to accelerate cell turnover overnight.

Pro Tip: On exfoliant nights, don't use retinol or Vitamin C in the same routine — too much actives causes irritation.

Step 4 · Serum

Treatment Serum or Ampoule

Evening is prime time for powerful actives: Retinol rebuilds collagen while you sleep, Niacinamide fades pigmentation, Peptides firm and plump. Apply your most targeted treatment serum here.

Pro Tip: Start retinol just 1–2 nights per week. Increase frequency gradually over 4–6 weeks to avoid purging.

Phase 3 — Seal & Sleep
5
Step 5 · Moisturise

Rich Night Cream or Gel Cream

Evening moisturiser can be richer than morning. Look for ingredients like ceramides, peptides, or hyaluronic acid. Your skin absorbs and repairs most actively between 10PM and 2AM.

Pro Tip: Apply moisturiser while skin is still slightly damp from serum — it traps in hydration for 3x better absorption.

Step 6 · Optional

Sleeping Mask (2–3x per week)

A Korean sleeping mask is the final seal — an occlusive layer that prevents moisture loss overnight and delivers concentrated actives while you sleep. Wake up noticeably plumper and more radiant.

Pro Tip: Apply sleeping mask as the very last step. It seals everything underneath. No need to rinse off — simply wash off in the morning.
